Fort de Bilt

During World War II, Fort De Bilt was used as an execution site.

The 140 people shot to death there were largely members of the resistance. Immediately after World War II the Fort served as a prison camp for NSB members and collaborators for a few years. Fort De Bilt is part of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie and one of the five forts of the City of Utrecht.
The Fort is now a centre for peace education, see: www.vredeseducatie.nl
