Parents of Celine (Cilly) and her siblings, c. 1919, the Hague.
Celine's mother (who changed her name to Sabine/ Sabina Beder) survived the shoah - and was in Tel Aviv in 1945 (along with her 2 younger brothers: David and Heinrich). The older brother, Ferdinand and his wife, Nina, survived the shoah, in hiding in The Netherlands, on a farm. All those sheltered by the van den Bergs survived the war. Johannes and Anna were honoured at Yad Vashem in 1997/1998, as Righteous Among the Nations). Sadly, sister Leah died c. 1905 following childbirth it is presumed.
It is not known who the girls/women in the front are (except, of course, Doba in the middle). Perhaps they are cousins.
Doba and Elias are seated in the front, middle.
Back: left to right: Effraim Fischl (later: Ferdinand), Sara (Sabine), Henoch (Heinrich), Leah, David.
