Biography

About Annechien Baruch-Goldsmid.

Annechien Baruch-Goldsmid was the widow of the livestock dealer and butcher Izaak Baruch, who was born in Bellingwolde on 5 June 1863 but has passed away on 12 May 1934 in the city of Groningen. Annechien was born in Nieuwe Pekela on 4 May 1865 as daughter of Heiman Goldsmid and Jeannette Mosberg. Annechien was married there to Izaak Baruch on 24 May 1894.

Before she was wed, Annechien Goldsmid worked as servant maid in Amsterdam: from May 1884 till September 1886 she lived at Weesperstraat 75 and afterwards for some time at the address Nieuwe Herengracht 129. After their marriage in 1894, the Baruch couple lived in Nieuweschans but moved 12 October 1923 with their in 1896 born son Abraham to the city of Groningen, where they came living in the Nieuwstraat 51. Her daughter Jenetta was already married in 1920 and lived with her family in the Bleekerstraat 24a in Groningen.

Afterwards, some more removals followed within the borders of the City of Groningen: per 26 May 1924 their address became Professor Rankestraat 8a; after Annechien became widowed in 1934, she moved in 8 June 1935 with her daughter Jenetta Knorringa-Baruch, who lived with her family Bleekerstraat 24a; on 13 February 1937 again a removal to Professor Rankestraat 8a, the address of her son Abraham Baruch; a few months later, on 4 September 1937 Westerhaven 6a and on 7 January 1938 Gedempte Zuiderdiep 150a.

Daarna volgden er nog enkele verhuizingen binnen de stad Groningen: per 26 Mei 1924 werd hun adres Professor Rankestraat 8a; nadat Izaak Baruch in 1934 was overleden trok Annechien per 8 Juni 1935 in bij haar dochter Jenetta Knorringa-Baruch, die met haar gezin in de Bleekerstraat 24a woonde; op 13 Februari 1937 verhuisde zij weer naar het adres van haar zoon Abraham in de Professor Rankestraat 8a; enkele maanden later, op 4 September 1937 Westerhaven 6a en op 7 Januari 1938 she moved in a house at Gedempte Zuiderdiep 150a.

Annechien and Izaak had three children together, namely Abraham on 26 February 1896, Heiman on 22 May 1897 and Jenetta on 5 October 1900, all born at Nieuweschans, where the family lived. Heiman Baruch however died already as a baby of one month old on 20 July 1897. Her children Abraham and Jenetta and their families were murdered in the Shoah.

Annechien Baruch-Goldsmid passed away in the early years of the 2nd World War in the city of Groningen, aged 76 on 23 September 1941 and was interred in the Cemetery at Iepenlaan in Groningen.
