The fate of the four Beek-sisters.

Eva, Elisabeth, Rebecca and Grietje.

Eva Beek was the eldest of the six children of Simon Beek and Chrisje Koren. She was born on 27 May 1880 and unmarried. Her sisters Elisabeth (10 January 1883), Rebecca (6 August 1885) and Grietje (19 July 1888) were unmarried too. They had two other brothers: the youngest was Isaac, who was married to Aaltje Groen and had a son Leo; their brother Leon, who was born in 1890, passed away at the age of 24 in 1914 and was interred in the Jewish Cemetery at Muiderberg.

The four Beek-sisters lived at Thérèse Schwaretzeplain 27 parterre and moved all on 27 August 1934 to Waalstraat 89 parterre. There brother Isaac then lived in for a few weeks before he left for Rotterdam with his wife and son. Per 3 June 1941 however were the four Beek-sisters registered at the address Mesdagstraat 20 in Amsterdam-South, from where they eventually have been deported in 1942 and 1943.

Rebecca was a certified nurse with diploma’s A and Be (sick- and psychiatric nursing). She worked for the Jewish Council as a district nurse, legitimated by the Council. However in the night of 6 on 7 May 1943 she was taken to concentration camp Vught and from there on 24 May brought to Westerbork, where she had to stay in barrack 60. Already the next day, the 25th of May 1942 Rebecca has been deported to Sobibor and on arrival there on 28 May 1943, she was immediately murdered.

Elisabeth Beek was a seamstress. On 28 November 1942 she was taken to Westerbork and put on transport on 8 December to Auschwitz. On arrival there on 11 December 1942, she was immediately murdered.  

Of Eva Beek no profession is known. On 11 May 1943 she was registered in Westerbork, stayed there in barrack 84 and has been put on transport to Sobibor on 18 May. On arrival there on 21 May 1943, Eva was immediately murdered.

Of Grietje Beek, no profession is known too. She was taken 9 September 1942 to Westerbork and deported to Auschwitz on 11 September. There, on arrival on 11 September 1942, she was immediately murdered.
