Biography

About Aäron Mok.

 

Aäron Mok was the seventh child of Isaak Aron Mok and Jeannette Natkiel. He was born 30 June 1882 into a family of in total eight children. His siblings were Roosje (1869), Hendrika (1872), Rebecca (1874), Anna (1876), Elisabeth (1878), Joseph (1880) en Sara (1886). Joseph Mok however passed away in Amsterdam at the age of 43 and was interred in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen. Aäron and all his other sibs were killed in the Shoah.

Aäron was a dealer in clothing and sold 2nd-hand clothing at the Sunday street market at Uilenburg  in Amsterdam from 1 January 1934 for which he possessed a vendor permit. Beside that, he earned his money as a diamond worker. Aäron Mok remained unmarried.

Aäron lived at Joden Houttuinen 42a, moved in 1909 with his parents to Batavierstraat 11 and in 1916 to Uilenburgerstraat 114a and in May 1919 to Spitskopstraat 6 in the Transvaal district in Amsterdam-East. From Eerste Boerhaavestraat 10 2nd floor he moved to Koningstraat 14 in September 1935 and per 1 June he had to move to Laing’s Nekstraat 10 1st floor.

On 10 December 1942 Aäron Mok was carried off to Westerbork where he had to stay in barrack 70. On 18 January 1943 he was put on transport to Auschwitz and on arrival there on 21 January 1943 he was immediately killed.
