About the 7th convoy of 1 September 1942

from Mechelen to Auschwitz

This transport includes 1000 persons, among them 344 children. They have never been so numerous before. It indicates a new big raid, the second of the “final solution”, once again in Antwerp with the cooperation of the Belgian police, during the night of 28 to 29 August. The list of the convoy, that was started on the eve of the raid was already complete on 29 August, because of the arrests during that night. Only 99 people on the list bear the mention of their call.

The 7th convoy arrives in Auschwitz on 3 September 1942. At least 729 of the 1000 deportees are immediately killed. Like the previous convoys, it has one of the highest extermination figures of deportation from Belgium. Convoy VII is the 2nd convoy that stops in Kozel. 187 men are older than 15 and younger than 50. At the arrival in Auschwitz 96 more deportees are registered in the camp. Of these two selections for labor only 15 people will survive at liberation.
