Biography

About Isaac Swaluw, his wife Maria Melkman and his two unmarried daughters Judith & Sara.

Isaac Swaluw from Amsterdam, fruiterer, was a son of Hijman Swaluw and Esther Springer. 6 February 1907 he married in Rotterdam Maria Melkman, a daughter of Hartog Melkman and Judith Granaade. The couple had six children, namely Hijman in 1907, Judiht in 1909, Esther in 1910, Hartog in 1911, Bloeme in 1915 and Sara in 1918. Of Bloeme nothing is furhter known except that at the time of registration by the JewishCouncil in 1941, she was still unmarried. The others were killed in the Shoah.

Isaac Swaluw and Maria Melkman resided at Eerbeekstraat 15 in Rotterdam, their last known address. Their eldest daughter Judith and youngest daughter Sara lived still at home with their parents. They were unmarried. Together with their parents, both sisters were deported from there to Camp Westerbork where they arrived between 3 and 5 October 1942. From Westerbork they were deported to Auschwitz 23 October and upon arrival there 26 October 1942, all were immediately killed.
