About Flora Harpman

 

 

Flora Harpman from Rotterdam, daughter of Antonie Harpman and Sara Harkman, married 19 September 1894 in Rotterdam Gabriël van Gelderen from Leiden, a son of Isaac van Gelderen and Elisabeth de Leeuw. Together, they had seven children, of whom two were stillborn and their son Abraham died 12 July 1905, only 11 days old. A daughter Elisabety passed away in 1927 in Rotterdam, aged 31 and unmarried.  The “remaining surving” sons married but were killed with their families in the Shoah: it were Antonie, married to Elisabeth Hendrika Beem; Isaac, married to Mirte Kaufman and it was Jacques, married to Sophia Kleinkramer.

The Van Gelderen family lived at Schiekade 15 a in Rotterdam. Her spouse Gabriel however passed away 19 January 1941 and was interred in the Jewish Cemetery Toepad. Flora self was deported to Camp Westerbork 15 October 1942 and two weeks later, put on transport to Auschwitz. Upon arrival there she was killed immediately 5 November 1943.
