Magiel Gaarkeuken was a son of Salomon Gaarkeuken and Grietje Beem. Born in Haarlem in 1916 and living there, but registered per 9 September 1919 in the Peoples Registry of the Municipality of Apeldoorn as inhabitant of the Centraal Israëlitisch Krankzinnigengesticht Het Apeldoornse Bos. (psychiatric institution) The rest of his life, Magiel Gaarkeuken has resided in The Apeldoornse Bos, till the moments that all inhabitants and staff were deported to Auschwitz on 23 January 1943. Magiel Gaarkeuken as well all others were killed there immediately upon arrival 25 January 1943.
