About Diena van Dam-Sternfeld

Diena Sternfeld, a daughter of Salomon Sternfeld and Dientje Cohen, married 6 September 1916 in Rotterdam Salomon van Dam from Groningen, a son of Hartog Izak van Dam and Juliea Polak. Diena and Salomon had two children: Hugo Julius in 1917 and Richard Walter in 1919. The latter survived the Holocaust. Their son Hugo Julius was killed in the Shoah.

After having resided since 2 January 1935 at Schietbaanlaan 88 in Rotterdam, she and her family moved to Statenweg 84 c, which was their last known address too.

4 November 1908, Diena Sternfeld was previously married in Renkum to Jacob Rudolph Manasse from Renkum, a son of Eugenius Rudolph Manasse and Geertrui Schenk. 28 October 1915, this marriage ended in a divorce by verdict of the District Court of Arnhem, which was registered in the Civil Registry 6 November 1915. As far as known, Diena and Jacob Rudolph Manasse had no children.

According to her registration card by the Jewish Council, she would have been deported to Auschwitz 30 October 1942. However, the date she was killed there has been established as 15 October 1942. She must have been deported to Auschwitz in the same transport as her husband Salomon van Dam: on 12 October 1942. Both their dates of death are 15 October 1942.
