About Marcus Meiler and his family

Marcus Meiler, a wholesaler,  was a son of Abraham Meiler and Henriette Coopman.  He maried Selina Velleman in Leeuwarden on 8 August 1914, a daughter of Isak Velleman and Jeltje Izaaks.  He was born into a family with five children of whom Sophia,  Sebilla and he himself have been killed in the Shoah. His sister Sara and brother Karel have survived the Holocaust. His father died already in 1896 and his mother in 1937.

Marcus and Selina had three children together, namely Abraham (Bram), Isidoor (Ies) and Henri Karel (Henri). They were all born in Rotterdam and all were killed in Auschwitz.  Marcus’ spouse, Selina Velleman however passed away on 20 April 1941 in Rotterdam and the funeral records at the Jewish cemetery in Rotterdam reveal that she was buried there.

The children of Marcus,  Bram and Ies, both having worked as representatives and Henri, a warehouse clerk, have been registered in Camp Westerbork already on 31 Juli 1942  and put on transport to Auschwitz on 3 Augustus, where they all eventually have lost their lives on 30 September 1942.  

Marcus Meiler was registered in Camp Westerbork on 10 October 1942 and already two days later, on 12 October deported to Auschwitz, where he was killed immediately upon arrival there on 15 October 1942.
