About Martijn Henri de Vries

Martijn Henri de Vries was a son of Hartog de Vries and Sophia Adriana Juliette de Boer. He married Sellie Nieuwkerk in Amsterdam on 17 November 1934, a daughter of Karel Benjamin Nieuwkerk en Carolina Fischel. The couple had two childreen, Martijn Henri and Carolijn Sophie, who both have been killed in the Shoah too.

Martijn Henri had another sister, Esther Hanna  who left for Tel Aviv in 1936 and therefore presumably has survived the Holocaust. Except in Amsterdam, Martijn Henri self resided also in Arnhem, Enschede and Berchem in Belgium. His latest addres with his family was Gijsbrecht van Amstelstraat 372 in Hilversum.

Martijn Henri, his wife and both his children have been sent to Camp Vught (presumably in the first months of 1943) and from there they arrived in Camp Westerbork on 31 March 1943. According the registration card of Martijn Henri this transport would have been a "punisment transport"(S-transport), which would not have been the case with the other family members. Eventally all have been deported to Sobibor on 27 April 1943 and upon arrival there immediately killed on 30 April 1943.
