About Rosette Brandel

Rosette Brandel was a daughter of Joseph Brandel and Rijntje Stad. She was married in Rotterdam in 1924 to Levie de Groot but divorced him in 1934. After her divorce Rosette remarried on 11 August 1936 in Berchem (Antwerp) the widower Salomon Voorzanger. His non-Jewish wife has passed away 19 April 1935 at Westmalle (province of Antwerp). From his first marriage, two children were born who have survived the war and emigrated to the USA.. From the marriage of Rosette Brandel and Salomon Voorzanger, no children are known.

Rosette Brandel has been deported with Convoy VIII from Mechelen to Auschwitz on 8 September 1942 which has arrived in Auschwitz on 10 September 1942. From the 1000 persons in this convoy, the SS killed the same day of arrival mainly all women and children. During a stop at Kozel, already 281 men had to step out of the train in order to do forced labor in the surrounding labor camps there. Only 85 persons were allowed to register in the camp itself. It is therefore plausible that Rosette Brandel has been killed immediately upon arrival in Auschwitz on 10 September 1942 despite her official date of death which has been made out as 30 September 1942.
