About the Schoutenstraat in Rotterdam

The street was named by the Mayor and City Counsel Members of Rotterdam on 17 March 1891.

This street bears the name of several members of the Schouten family. In the 2nd half of the 17th century, they bought houses and yards between Oudedijk and Schielands Hoge Zeedijk. Before 1891, the street was called Schoutenlaan. Before the bombing in May 1940, the street ran from the Oostzeedijk to the Weteringstraat. A small part of the street at the Oostzeedijk remained until 1990.

The name was withdrawn by decision of the Mayor and Counsel Members of Rotterdam on 9 November 1990.
