About Anna Nathans

Anna Nathans was the youngest daughter of Simon Nathans and Betje de Jong. She married 31 October 1928 in Haren, aged 29 the 43-year old Jakob van Dam from Stedum (Gr) headmaster at Westerbork, a son of Victor van Dam and Jette van Hoorn. As far as has been researched, this couple had no children.

Anna self was born into a family with eight children in total, namely Aaltje, Klara, Nathan, Salomon David, Sophia, Eva, David Simon and Anna zelf. Except Nathan, who has passed away already in 1913, all others were killed in the Shoah.

Anna and her husband Jakob lived in with her father Simon Nathans at Bernhardlaan 12 in Zuidlaren. This street was, on order of the German occupier, renamed to Beukenlaan.

Anna and Jakob arrived at Camp Westerbork on 27 Augustus 1942 but were deported already the next day to Auschwitz, 28 August. Upon arrival there on 31 August 1942, both have been killed there immediately.
