About Meijer Filip Knap

Meijer Filip Knap was a son of Marcus Knap and Debora van Emrik. He was born as the 10th child into a family with fourteen children, of whom one daughter has died in childhood, only 5 months old; five children have died already before the war; two daughthers have survived the Holocaust and six children, among them Elizabeth, Rebecca, Simon, Sara, Benjamin and Meijer Filip self have been killed in the Shoah.

Meijer Filip Knap, a broker and appraiser, married 17 May 1916 Petronella van Rooijen in Rotterdam, a daughter of Salomon van Rooijen and Bransje Mossel. The couple had two sons, namely Marcus Salomon and Salomon Marcus. Both their sons, who were married in the summer of 1942, have been killed in Auschwitz too, together with their newly wed wives.

Meijer Filip Knap and his wife Petronella van Rooijen have been registered in transit camp Westerbork on 27 February 1943 where they stayed in barack 69. On 2 March both were deported to Sobibor where they have been killed immediately upon arrival there on 5 March 1943.
