Saartje van Velzen was a daughter of Levie van Velzen and Naatje Wurms. She married in Amsterdam on 14 January 1914 to Philip Elsas, son of Emanuel Elsas and Keetje Hagenaar. Philip has survived the Holocaust.
Saartje had another brother Barend van Velzen.
