Simon Gomperts was a son of Aaron Gompertz and Hester van Leeuwen. Simon Gompertz was the oldest child in a family of eight children. Simon Gompertz grew up in a musically minded family. His father played the trumpet and four of his children were musician. Simon Gompertz was among them, he played the contrabass.
Simon Gompertz married Thérèse Biedermann on 28 August 1918.
