Maria Peper was the daughter of Hijman Saul Peper and Geertje Pruijm. She married 16 June 1909 in Haarlem Mozes Marcus Paardebek, a son of Marcus Mozes Paardebek and Esther Schreuder.
Sara was born in a family with eleven children. Three of her siblings has been killed too during the Shoah: Samuel, Levie and Sara.
