Mozes le Grand was a son of Heiman Salomon le Grand (also known as Herman) and Vroukje Zendijk. He worked as a brush maker and as a fruit dealer. On 15 June 1904 he got married to Antje Bobbe. The couple had four children: Vroukje, Truitje, Hartog (died at a young age) and Henriëtte. Antje Bobbe died in 1920.
