About Emanuel Voorzanger

Emanuel Voorzanger, born in 1917 in Rotterdam, was a son of Isaac Voorzanger and Jansje Park. He was one of the nine children from this family, of whom two brothers and two sisters probably might have survived the Holocaust. The Voorzanger family resided somtimes in Rotterdam  or Berchem or Antwerp. The family lately lived at Bikschotelaan 159 in Berchem, province of Antwerp. Details from the archive of the municipality of Berchem show that Emanual Voorzanger was a pastry cook by trade. His brother Abraham and sisters Selina, Esther and Elisabeth as well his parents were killed in the Shoah. 

Emanuel Voorzanger was deported on 24 October 1942 from Mechelen to Auschwitz wirh Convoy XV, which arrived there on 26 October and where Emanuel has been killed there on 27 October 1942. His brother Bernard and his sisters Henrica and Anna might have survived the Holocaust. His siblings Abraham, Selina Elisabeth and Esther have been deported from Mechelen to Auschwitz with various convoys and were killed there too. His brother Josephus however was killed in Mauthausen.
