About Abraham van Es

Abraham van Es (known as Bram) was the son of Coenraad Herman van Es and Eva van de Rhoer. His mother died in 1930. Bram van Es grew up in Meppel, but later moved to Amsterdam. Around June 1942 he was put to work as a cook at Vledder, one of the Jewish labour camps. In early September he was transferred from there to the labour camp in Orvelte. In early October 1942 he arrived in Westerbork, and in 1944 he was deported to Theresienstadt. In October 1944 he was sent to Auschwitz. Bram van Es was married in 1942. His wife survived the war.
