About Joseph Levie.

Joseph Levie was a son of Maurits Levie and Sara Josepha Cohen. He was born in Breda on 16 January 1900 and he had another five siblings, who were all murdered during the Shoah. It were Sophia, Eva, Theresia, Salomon and Victor.

Joseph was a hairdresser by profession and he was unmarried. Since May 1922 he lived in Amsterdam at various addresses but in September 1933 he lived at Sarphatistraat 167 and per 6 October 1939 at Borssenburgplein 4 2nd floor in Amsterdam.

It appeared that there is no registration card of Joseph Levie to find in the file cabinet of the Jewish Council. It might be possible that Joseph Levie has reported himself voluntarily for the so-called "provision of additional work in Germany, early August 1942. Also unknown is when or with which transport Joseph Levie has been deported to Auschwitz. Clear is however that Joseph Levie is a Shoah-victim. The Dutch Ministry of Justice after the was has ordered the Municipality of Amsterdam to draw up a certificate of death for Joseph Levie, in which is established that he has died in Auschwitz on 30 September 1942.
