Hartog Brilleman was a son of Joseph Brilleman and Branca Broekman. He had six other siblings: Naatje, Grietje, Levie, Gerrit (deceased in 1934), Schoontje and Mietje.
Hartog married in Amsterdam on 14 September 1905 to Kaatje Mullem, who passed away on 28 September 1919 in Apeldoorn. The couple had two daughters: Branca, who married Levie Polak and Johanna, wo married Salomon Schrijver. Both the daughter have survived the Holocaust.
After the death of Kaatje Mullem, Hartog Brilleman remarried on 6 May 1920 in Amsterdam to Rebecca Rabbie, daughter of Levie Rabbie and Mietje Wolff.
