Simon van Bever was a son of Samule Levie van Bever and Annaatje Barend Vissaer. He married on 20 April 1887 in Amsterdam to Schoontje Roeg, daughter of Hartog Nathan Roeg and Judik Daniel Platvoet.
Simon and Schoontje were the parents of ten children, of whom Marianna and Kaatje already have passed away in childhood and Salomon died aged 25 years. The other children, Annaatje, Judith, Rachel, Hartog, Berendje and Barend did not survive the Holocaust. Their son Samuel has died in 1935 and he was married to Sara Kijl.
