Louis Cutzien was a son of Salomon Cutzien and Franziska Lilienfeld. He married in Blaricum (Noord Holland) on 1 April 1941 to Hedwig Strauss from Frankfurt am Main, a daughter of David Strauss and Miryam Tannenwald. Hedwig Strauss was previously married to Ferdinand Niederman, who however was deceased on 9 August 1939 in Amsterdam.
Louis had another brother Adolf Philip, who also was killed during the Holocaust.
