Henri Engelander was a son of Simon Engelander and Anna Kroese. He married in Amsterdam on 6 July 1887 to Rebecca de Jong, daughter of Salomon de Jong and Roosje Spiero. Rebecca passed away on 28 April 1922. The couple had five children together: Anna, Carel, Caroline, David and Mozes.
