David Overste was a son of Simon Overste and Esther van Collem. He married 12 November 1919 in Amsterdam to Rebecca Rodrigues, daughter of Hijman Rodrigues and Roosje Pool.
David had five other sisters who did not survive the Holocaust either: Grietje, Rachel, Duifje, Sophie and Leentje.
