The parents and three siblings of Ernst Menko survived the war.
A napkin ring belonging to Ernst Menko was preserved. It bore the inscription, 'Ernst, go through life cheerfully.’ The napkin ring was later stolen from his heirs.

Ernst Menko was taken away one evening in 1943 from the address Haringvlietstraat 10 in Amsterdam, together with among others 473523.
