Grietje Sanders (also known as Margreta) was a daughter of David Sanders and Antje Harpman. In 1909 she was married in Rotterdam to Henri Samuel Polak, a son of Samuel Nathan Polak and Caroline Wijler. FGrom this marriage three children were born: Carolina, David and one child that survived the war. The family resided in Maastricht where they owned a Jewish hotel. Henri Samuel Polak died in Heerlen in 1934. Grietje Sanders got married in 1936 to Samuel Joel, a son of Michel Joel and Sophia van Emden.
