Samuel Ensel was a son of Raphael Andries Ensel and Betsy Polak. He was married to Saartje Eliazer. The couple had 9 children: Raphael (died at a ayoung age), Rachel (died at a young age), Betty, Rachel, Raphael, Leendert, Mietje, David and Christien. Saartje died in 1928.
