Abraham van der Star had one child with his first wife. This child survived the war. Following his divorce, Abraham married again. He had two children with his second wife. Abraham van der Star played viola in the Utrechts Stedelijk Orkest. There is a photo of him playing a viola d’amore in C. Höweler, XYZ der Muziek (Utrecht 1936) 404.

Abraham van der Star was a member of the resistance. He died during a transport from Auschwitz to Dachau.
