Marieanna Emma Simons Cohen was a daughter of Izaak Simons Cohen (1859-1938) and Liena (ookwel Lena) Cohen (1858-1936). Her parents had six children, two of whom survived the war. Her brother Sigmund Louis with his family, and her sisters Emma (b. 1892) and Andriesa Sardiena (b. 1894) all lived in Utrecht.
