Mozes Abas was a son of Jozeph Abas and Judith de Vries. Mozes Abas was a merchant as well as a diamond cutter. On 29 March 1905 he married Alida Morpurgo. The couple had fourteen children.
The family lived a period in Amsterdam together with the parents of Alida Morpurgo. On 9 March 1915 they left for Rotterdam where they lived at addresses like Breedestraat 9b, Kruiskade 1a, Meent 15b, Van Alkemadestraat 25b and Aert van Nesstraat 136a.
