Friedrich Stein was the son of Lazarus Stein and Paula Winter. In 1909 the family was living on Capitelstrasze 47 in Neuss. His father earned a living selling potatoes. At the time of the war, his widowed mother lived with her daughter Irma in Helmond. During the war Friedrich Stein was a bookkeeper and a statistician for the Jewish Council. He was deported on 15 November 1943 from Vught concentration camp to Auschwitz.
