Leo de Vries was not married. The name of his fiancee was Ida. He worked for the Rotterdamsche Bankvereeniging. He managed to avoid deportation in 1942 because he had surgery on a kidney.
He had a statement of the docters Benedictus Premsela and Jacob Ailjon indicating his medical condition.
Leo de Vries received several messages of his brother, Johan, after he and his family were deported to Westerbork. Leo also received a letter of a good friend, Barend Reiss.
