Over Ilse (Elsie) Kroch

Survived. number 157 on picture Joodsche HBS on Stadstimmertuin. Lives in Haifa. Born in 1925. Since 1946 in Israel. She married with Mr. Gregor Cherney (Cherneykovski) who passed away and maried later with Mr. Weinberg. Also in the school were her siblings Edith (Buenos Aires) and Ernst (killed in the Israel Independence war), see 112 on picture of Joodsche HBS on the Stadstimmertuin and also Ernst Kroch on this website. Ilse changed her name to Elsie.
Wealthy banking family, fled in 1938 a few days after the Kristall Nacht from Leipzig to Belgium and later in 1939 to Holland . Her sister Edith, October 1927, went to the school from September 1941 till July 1942 and is therefore not on this picture.
Her mother Ella was caught at the Dutch border and murdered in Ravensbruck. She did not leave Germany together with her family in order to avoid suspicion with the Germans that they were fleeing.
The father and children bought their way in July '42 to Buenos Aires, Argentine, where Edith still lives today.
