Herta Mannheimer moved with her parents and siblings in 1905 from Bütthard to Heidingsfeld. The family lived from trade in meal- and agricultural products. Herta did the housekeeping and took care of her father after her mother's death. Within the community she was socially and culturally active. After the death of her father she emigrated to the Netherlands in 1937. First she lived in 'Maartensdijk, later in Amsterdam (Merwedeplein 37).
