Sara Zwaap-Mannheim lived at 6 Hofmeyrstraat in Amsterdam. Under pressure of the circumstances she took her own life some day between 17 and 31 May 1943.

A letter dated 21 May 1943 from a member of the family refers to Sara's suicide. 'My sister-in-law, the wife of my eldest brother, died on Tuesday. Her husband and two children had been in Germany for a long time. Her own departure had been delayed because she was ill, and on Thursday, that is yesterday, it was to be her turn to leave, along with so many others. Apparently it all distressed her so greatly that she took her own life.'
