Biography

About Günther Aiminski

Günther Aiminski was the son of the merchant Ilko Aiminski and Ruth Feibel. The following items concerning him remain:

A birth certificate, issued on 2 March 1939 by the 'Inspektor des Israelitischen Kranken-Verpflegungsanstalt' in Breslau;

A transcript upon his departure from the Privates Jüdisches Reform-Realgymnasium, dated 1 April 1938;

A statement of good conduct from the police in Breslau;

Three postcards addressed to him (probably written by his father) at 55 Geldersche Kade, second floor, in Amsterdam;

A certificate dated 12 July 1941 reflecting his completion of the programme for lathe operators at the 5th vocational school on the Meeuwenlaan in Amsterdam;

A list of marks from this school dated 4 June 1941, as well as a list of marks from another school year;

A letter of reference dated 14 July 1942 from the company G. Schut, a ship smithy at 30 Binnenbantammerstraat in Amsterdam, stating that the firm was satisfied with Günther Aiminski's work as an apprentice smith lathe operator since March 1941. The final document reads: 'Since he has to go work in Germany, he is leaving our workshop.'
