Jews who were German nationals residing in the Netherlands lost their citizenship and became stateless residents following a Nazi decree on 25 November 1941. This measure affected Caroline Japhet-Ebpstein. She was taken by taxi from Aalten to Camp Westerbork on 10 April 1943 and deported to Sobibor from there.
