Johan Goudsmit was a son of Eliazar Jonas Goudsmit and Julie Jacob Herzberger. Johan Goudsmit went into hiding during the war. In March 1944 he was arrested and brought to the prison in Scheveningen. From Scheveningen he was sent to camp Vught, and from there to camp Westerbork. The last train that left camp Westerbork during the war also carried with it Johan Goudsmit. On 3 September 1944 he was deported to Auschwitz. On 25 October 1944 he was sent to camp Stutthof.
