About Simon Hijman Hartog

Simon Hijman Hartog was married. He and his wife had a child. The family lived in Rotterdam. Simon Hijman Hartog was a bank teller. He helped people in hiding. He was betrayed, arrested in Rotterdam on 16 December 1942 and held at the police station on the Haagse Veer. He was deported to Auschwitz via Westerbork. The wife of Simon Hijman Hartog survived the war.

Simon Hijman Hartog was a son of Levie Hartog and Alida Spier. His father died already 22 may 1917 in Rotterdam and his mother Alida Spier passed away 5 January 1943, also in Rotterdam. Simon Hijman married in Dordrecht 17 December 1931 Bertha Josephina Maria van Dijck who was born in Antwerp. 29 March 1932 their son Leo Jan was born. The couple resided since 28 August 1933 at Rodenrijschestraat 26b in Rotterdam.

18 January 1943 Simon Hijman Hartog was registrated in Camp Westerbork and five days later, 23 January deported to Auschwitz. Upon arrival there 26 January 1943 he was immediately killed.
