Simon Erwteman was a son of Hijman Erwteman and Heintje Polak. He married 18 June 1913 in Amsterdam to Anna Scheermes, a daughter of Samuel Scheermes and Sara Hartz.
Simon was born in a family with six children, of whom his sister Schoontje as survived the war, however, a few months later already on 3 June 1945 she passed away in Antwerp. His other siblings, Soesman, Jetje, Juda and Hartog have been killed all during the Holocaust
