Joseph Heiman de Leeuw got married to Ellen Ilgner in Westerbork transit camp on 6 August 1942. He was a warehouse clerk and a son of the merchant Jacob de Leeuw and of Mina Himelreich. The parents lived in Winterswijk. Ellen Ilgner was a daughter of the merchant Alfons Friedrich Ilgner and of Malvine Leiser. Her parents lived in Amsterdam.
