Israel Vierra was a son of Isaac Vierra en Klaartje Kalkoene. He was born in a family of 10 children, among them he himself and his baby-Sister Elisabeth, who died only 2 months old in 1905. His brother Leman, (married to Helena Polak) passed already before 1940. All his other siblings, Marianne, Willem, David, Rachel, Naatje, Rebecca and Lena have died during the Holocaust.
Israel married in Amsterdam on 29 July 1919 to Roosje Liefman, daughter of Simon Liefman and Doortje Cohen.
