About Max Reinhaus

Max Reinhaus and Clara Hirsch married on 28 October 1910 in Burgsteinfurt, Germany. The couple had two children who both survived the war.


During the First World War, Max Reinhaus served in the German army. After the war he became a member of the Reichsbund Jüdischer Frontsoldaten. This organisation disputed with antisemitic propaganda that denounced the contribution of the German Jews in the war effort.


In 1926 Max Reinhaus and his family moved to Dortmund. Until 1938 Max Reinhaus was a commissioner at the local cattle-market in Dortmund. In 1938 the family fled to Amsterdam.
