Benedictus Premsela was a general practitioner in Assendelft. In 1918 he and his family moved to Amsterdam. Benedictus Premsela was very interested in sexuality and problems deriving from it. In 1931 he opened the first consultancy agency for sexual problems and birth control. He was also known for his radio-speeches about sexuality, broadcasted by Vara-Radio.
