Samuel Blom was a son of Salomon Blom and Hendrika Kosman, who had a family with ten children: Samuel himself, Hartog, Elisabeth, Duifje, Nathan, Rachel, Israel, Barend, Machiel and Greta, who survived the Holocaust.
Samuel married in Amsterdam on 1 December 1915 to Sophia Brilleman, daughter of Hartog Brilleman and Betje Samson.
