Siegfried Herman van Perlstein (also known as Frits) was a son of Noach Nehemia van Perlstein, chairman of the Jewish community of Doetinchem, and Elisabeth Lankhout. He was married and had two children.
In 1929 the family lived on the Gerard Terborgstraat 32 I. Sometime later they moved to the Harmoniehof 10 huis. In april 1934 the family moved again. This time to Heemstede. Finally in 1941, the van Perlstein family registered in Bloemenaal.
